Excitement was evident as sponsors took part in announcing this year’s Saturday night headliner for Steinbach’s 9th annual Summer in the City (SITC) Festival. Cindi Rempel Patrick, Stage and Production Chair for the festival, had the pleasure of announcing that the Saturday night rock concert will feature Tom Cochrane and Red Rider.

Steinbach Credit Union, the Main Stage Sponsor for SITC 2017 had the honour of issuing the first ticket to the Saturday night concert. Since the Cochrane hit, Life is a Highway is now turning 25, it seems fitting that Ledingham GM be the presenting sponsor for the Saturday night show.

Summer in the City is joining Canada in celebrating 150 years and what better way to do that than with one of Canada’s most iconic and celebrated musicians, Tom Cochrane and Red Rider. Songs that are etched on the history of the lives of Canadians, from Sinking Like a Sunset, The Boy Inside the Man, and Big League.

Tom says, “I’m a proud Canadian and the biggest reward though is when someone comes up and says this song or that song got me through some tough times or was part of the best times in my life, or when I fell in love that was our song.” We can all tell stories about those songs and are excited to watch them be performed live on Main Street on Saturday,
June 17th.

Tickets go on sale for the Saturday night concert on Thursday, April 20th online and will also be available for purchase April 26th at Earls Meat Market, Steinbach Arts Council and all three Ste. Anne Co-op locations in Steinbach.

Blackjack Billy & The Beatles Get Their Groove On At SITC 2016

Excitement was evident as sponsors took part in announcing this year’s headliners for Steinbach’s 8th annual Summer in the City Festival. Cindi Rempel Patrick, Stage and Production Chair for the festival, had the pleasure of announcing that the Friday night rock concert will feature a Beatles and 60’s Invasion tribute band, while Country band Blackjack Billy will take the stage for the Saturday night concert.

Steinbach Credit Union (SCU) is the Main Stage Sponsor for Steinbach’s 2016 Festival. SCU Branch Manager Geoff Diltz said, “SCU believes in supporting community initiatives and we are proud to continue our role in supporting the Main Stage at Summer in the City. We are looking forward to a fun-filled weekend for families in Steinbach and the surrounding areas.”

Headliner Announcement-20Both performances are sure to entertain and appeal to all demographics. REPLAY, the Beatles and 60’s Invasion band, is more than a tribute band and will transport you back to that decade with a dynamic production featuring dancers, costumes, and familiar songs. On Saturday, Blackjack Billy will get toes tapping, and hearts pumping with their no-holds-barred, good-time, party-down rockin’ country feel.

Presenting Sponsors this year are Ledingham GM for the 60’s Invasion night, and Country 107.7FM for Blackjack Billy.

“Ledingham GM is proud to support Summer in the City again this year,” said Kent Ledingham, President of Ledingham GM. “The concerts held downtown every year are its cornerstone events and this year’s performers are sure to entertain and attract large crowds.”

Headliner Announcement-25“We are always so pleased to be a part of our community and, at the same time, support local talent who will be part of this great night,” said Trevor Schellenberg, Program Director for Country 107.7FM. “We’re also huge fans of Blackjack Billy and Summer in the City and expect this to be one fantastic festival!”

Tickets go on sale for both concerts on Friday, May 20th online at Summerinthecity.ca/tickets and will also be available for purchase at Earls Meat Market, Crossroads Fine Foods, and Steinbach Arts Council in Steinbach.
